By downloading, installing, or using Hilal ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the app. Hilal is developed and operated by Bypass Inc. ("we", "us", or "our").
2. Description of Service
Hilal is an Islamic companion application that provides the following features:
- Prayer time calculations based on your location
- Qibla direction finder
- Prayer tracking and daily streaks
- Dhikr counter
- Ramadan tools including fasting tracker, Suhoor and Iftar alerts
- Islamic calendar and event notifications
3. Eligibility
Hilal is available to users of all ages. No account creation or personal data submission is required to use the app. If you are under the age of 13, please use the app under the guidance of a parent or guardian.
4. Use of the App
You agree to use Hilal only for its intended purpose as a personal Islamic companion tool. You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the app
- Use the app for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose
- Distribute, sublicense, or transfer the app to third parties outside of authorized app store mechanisms
- Attempt to interfere with the proper functioning of the app
5. Prayer Time & Religious Data Disclaimer
⚠️ Prayer times, Qibla direction, and other religious calculations provided by Hilal are approximations based on mathematical models and your device's sensors. They are intended as a helpful guide but should not be considered as a definitive religious ruling.
We strive to provide accurate prayer times using well-established calculation methods (e.g., Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm Al-Qura). However, variations may occur due to factors including but not limited to:
- Device GPS accuracy and location settings
- Altitude and geographical conditions
- Differences between calculation methods
- Local adjustments made by regional Islamic authorities
We recommend consulting your local mosque or Islamic authority for precise prayer times in your area.
6. Intellectual Property
All content, design, graphics, and code in Hilal are the intellectual property of Bypass Inc. and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. The Hilal name, logo, and branding are trademarks of Bypass Inc.
7. User Data & Privacy
Your use of Hilal is also governed by our Privacy Policy. All user data, including preferences, worship tracking, and location information, is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit personal data to external servers.
8. Third-Party Services
Hilal may integrate with third-party services such as Apple CloudKit for device sync and external APIs for prayer time calculations. Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party service providers.
9. Availability & Updates
We aim to keep Hilal available and up-to-date but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to:
- Modify, update, or discontinue features at any time
- Release updates that may change the app's functionality
- Temporarily suspend access for maintenance or improvements
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bypass Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Hilal. This includes, but is not limited to, reliance on prayer time calculations, missed notifications, or data loss.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bypass Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the app.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Hilal shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo, Japan.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Hilal after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
